FAQ / Troubleshooting
Nothing happens when I die
Check, in order:
ensure leno_spirit_prois inserver.cfg, and the resource started without errors.- The free
leno_spiritisn't running too (the console warns about it). - The menu switch isn't on Off. On Automatic,
General.enabled = trueand the current month must be inGeneral.activePeriod(or it is'always'). - You haven't hidden the effect yourself. Run
/spiritto toggle it back on. General.cooldownSecondshas passed since your last spirit.- If you changed
SpiritHooks.CanTriggerorSpiritClientHooks.CanShowSpirit, they returntruefor you.
/spirittest ignores points 3 and 5, so if it works and a real death doesn't, the cause is one of those.
/spiritadmin says I'm not allowed
Your player needs the leno_spirit.admin ACE (or your Config.Permissions.admin value). See Installation. If you replaced SpiritHooks.IsStaff, check your function.
Saving says config.lua could not be written
The server process can't write config.lua or data/backups/, which is common on hosts with read-only resource files. The new settings are still active for everyone, but only until the next restart. Give the server write access to the resource folder, or save in the menu again after each restart.
My settings were reset after a restart
Someone edited the Config.Menu block by hand and left an error. An invalid block is ignored and the defaults are used; the server console lists what is wrong. Fix the block, or copy the last good backup from data/backups/ over config.lua, with the server stopped.
Another staff member's save was refused
Two people edited at the same time. The second save is refused and offers to load the other one's settings, so nobody overwrites a change they haven't seen. Load them, redo your change, and save again.
Other players don't see my spirit
General.visibilitymust be'nearby'. With'local', only the player who died sees it.- The server needs OneSync to find nearby players.
- Players must be within
General.nearbyRadiusand in the same routing bucket.
The spirit appears when I go down, not when I die (QBCore, wasabi)
With General.triggerMode = 'native', the effect fires when GTA kills the ped. On qb-ambulancejob and wasabi_ambulance, that is the moment you go down (last stand).
To fire on full death instead:
- QBCore or ESX: set
General.triggerMode = 'framework'. - Other scripts: set
General.triggerMode = 'manual'and callexports.leno_spirit_pro:Trigger()from your death script. See Exports and Events.
My addon pose can't be saved
The menu plays an added pose in game before it allows saving. If it doesn't load, check that the addon resource is started and that the dictionary and clip names are exact (they are case-sensitive).
My custom sound isn't in the list
- The file is in
sounds/and is.oggor.mp3(not.wav). - The name only uses letters, digits,
_and-. - It is listed in
Config.CustomSoundswith the same file name. - You restarted the resource. The server console reports listed files that are missing.
A game sound stays silent
Some sounds from DLC sets need extra audio banks or a newer game build. Use Listen in the menu to try a sound before you pick it. An invalid sound stays silent and causes no error.
The fade looks like it jumps in steps
That's how GTA renders transparency: it only changes in steps of 51. The end particle burst hides the last step. A higher starting opacity gives more steps.
Can players shoot the spirit?
No. The spirit has no collision, can't be damaged, and doesn't stop bullets aimed at players behind it.
Under water I only see the particles
GTA renders transparent peds differently under water, so the spirit is hard to see there. The particles still play.
Does it work with ESX / QBCore / QBox?
Yes. The default native mode works on any server. The framework mode supports ESX (esx:onPlayerDeath) and QBCore (metadata.isdead). For any other framework, use the export.
How much does it cost in resmon?
0.00 ms when idle. The effect only runs code while a spirit is on screen.
